WISCONSIN APPLE BREAD

½ cup butter (1 stick)
1-cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup milk
1 ½ to 2 cups apples, pared, sliced thin
¼ cup chopped nuts, optional

Cream butter; add sugar and egg and beat well.  Sift dry

ingredients and add to butter mixture alternately with milk.

Fold in apples and nuts.  Pour batter into well-greased and

floured 9x5x3-inch pan.  Sprinkle with sugar.  Bake at 

350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
